We are so excited to have them with us as we support our communities.

Take a minute to get to know them…

Meet Hannah…

IMG_0721I’m Hannah McWilliams and the newest member of the Well Doncaster team. I will be covering the central area of Doncaster and working alongside the community and other organisations to help encourage everyone to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. I am really looking forward to getting to see first-hand the work that Well Doncaster has helped implement so far in Denaby, Edlington, Bentley and Stainforth and continuing the work in Intake and Balby.

I first joined Doncaster Council in April 2019 as a Stronger Communities Officer in the central communities’ team as part of the Support Education and Engagement project (SEEP). I was fresh out of Sheffield Hallam University where I had just completed an undergraduate degree in BSc Sport and Exercise Science and a masters in MSc Nutrition and Public Health Management. It was the ideal first job working in the heart of the community and I was able to gain invaluable experience engaging with local residents and partner organisations and seeing first-hand the multi-agency work that goes on across Doncaster. However, I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in Public health and so when this job came about in the Well Doncaster team I was eager to join.

I am originally from London and moved up to Sheffield in 2014 for university where I have stayed ever since! I am still getting my bearings in Doncaster and yet, I probably spend more of my time here than I do Sheffield. I am a massive football fan and currently play for Doncaster Belles where a lot of my evenings and weekends are spent commuting. Besides football, I am a fan of pretty much any sport and will be glued to whatever competition is on TV. Any spare weekend I have I like to visit family in London, especially to surprise my 2 dogs! I love to travel, go shopping, watch musicals and chill out with friends too.

I am really looking forward to meeting the communities in Intake and Balby and working together to make it a better and easier place for people to lead a healthier and happier life.

…and now Stacey….

SP photoHi am Stacey Parry a Public Health Improvement Officer working on the new Community Wealth Building Project. I have previously worked in community engagement and business start-up roles and really enjoy supporting local people.

Well Doncaster are launching the Community Wealth Building Project across the Borough. Funded by the European Development Fund, the project is aimed at social enterprises, cooperatives or community interest companies – either at the pre-start stage or those already trading.

Social Entrepreneurs will receive a bespoke support service including one to one meetings, a range of training courses, networking opportunities and the chance to engage with some of areas largest organisations offering potential contract opportunities.

We believe that Doncaster has a lot to offer, and that community based enterprises can provide products and services to large organisations – and we want to help YOU do just that! Community Wealth means is putting the ‘wealth‘ back into the community.

I would love to hear from you if you have a business idea that has a community focus or social aim but you aren’t sure what to do next. Or if you are currently running a community enterprise and want to make it more sustainable or develop the product or service.

Come along to our Project Launch on May 20th. Keep eye on our social media for further details.
