I studied Sport and Exercise Science at undergraduate level, which really sparked my interest in psychology, and my drive to support people in their own health and wellbeing goals. Fast forward a year, and this saw me progress to graduating with a Master’s Degree in Psychology of Sport and Exercise. I was keen to use this to the best of my ability to make a positive difference to people’s lives using my knowledge of physical activity and health and wellbeing.
My background is predominantly in football clubs and their respective Foundations, having worked at Leeds United Foundation and Club Doncaster Foundation for 6 years. I really enjoyed inspiring people of all ages to be more physically active in my time at Leeds United Foundation, showcasing that disability shouldn’t stop you from doing something that you love, and just how important it is to have that positive first experience with physical activity and health and wellbeing sessions to create positive changes for life. I then worked closely on the Fit Rovers projects during my time at Club Doncaster Foundation including the Mixed Daytime Courses, Fit Forces and Fit Rovers Rainbow. I thoroughly enjoyed these sessions as I was able to support people from all backgrounds to improve their own physical and mental wellbeing.
I am really excited to bring my passion for helping others to my role in Well Doncaster. It has been great to utilise all of my already established connections to really benefit my role in the East locality. Since joining the team in July 2024, I am proud to have supported so many residents and community groups to make a positive difference in their local communities. I’ve really love seeing people coming together to tackle the health and wealth inequalities they are being faced with and really challenging what is possible to improve the quality of support available to them in their communities.
Fun Fact: I have visited 24 States in the USA on my travels during my time as a summer camp counsellor, and have even explored Hawaii, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, which were all equally amazing in different ways! I have also played Wheelchair Basketball since the age of 7, and I currently play for the Sheffield Steelers.
What people appreciate about me: I think people appreciate that I am such a positive person who is really approachable and chatty – some may say I can talk for England! I am always there to just listen and support others wherever I best can.
What is important to me: My family and friends are hugely important to me. I also love being part of any team, especially playing sports.
The thing I enjoy best about being part of Well Doncaster: I really enjoy being part of such a diverse team and being able to be so present in the communities that need us the most. Everyone works in their own unique ways, but we all work together towards the same goal, which is improving on the health and wealth inequalities across Doncaster.
