Job Title: Shaping Stainforth Young Apprentice

Locality: East

Email: grace.bennett@doncaster.gov.uk

I am the youth worker apprentice for Shaping Stainforth. I am currently working towards my Level 3 within youth work. Before I started my apprenticeship I was volunteering in my community and didn’t know what I wanted to do but I knew I loved working with young people and residents.

Since starting my role, I have learnt so many different skills and had many trainings opportunities which has improved my understanding of the role and allowed me to thrive with my work. I have completed a Level 3 first aid course and I have also become a domestic abuse champion.

In my role I have worked with young people in Stainforth to create a Young Persons Steering Group for the community. The Steering Group collects the voice of young people and their lived experience, plans activities that are inclusive and works to support all young people to feel safe and able to reach their potential.

Fun Fact: I have seen Beyonce live and she was absolutely amazing.

What people appreciate about me: How happy and energetic I always am and that fact that I`m always full of positivity.

What is important to me: Having time for my family and friends. My dog called Elsa (who is more like a massive polar bear), making sure that my mental health is ok and keeping busy in my free time.

The thing I enjoy best about being part of Well Doncaster: All the opportunities that I have had and how supportive the team is. Also watching how much of impact we have made on the young people.
