I started volunteering at my local Family Hub in the Parents Voice team and at a local foodbank in 2016. Whilst volunteering at the Family Hub I gained a Children and Young People Diploma, and I was able to use this and my volunteer experience to secure a post as an Early Years development Worker. I am very passionate about community development and the role the residents play in shaping their community.

In 2021 I joined the Well Doncaster team as a Public Health Officer working in the East of Doncaster. In my role I helped develop ‘Shaping Stainforth’, having been born and raised in Stainforth, I know the community and I am committed to its future. In this role I used my contacts and local knowledge to encourage residents to get involved in sharing what their priorities are for their community and be part of making positive changes. To see a community, develop and grow has been very rewarding.

Through my development in Well Doncaster, I am now a Public Health Improvement Officer in which I help and guide Well Doncaster Officers in their communities and champion community centred approaches across all partners. I cover the East and South areas of Doncaster. I have completed a level 4 qualification in Public Health and use this in my day to day working.

I still volunteer in my community and very passionate about helping residents. I run a successful Facebook notice board where residents connect with their community and access support. I love seeing communities celebrate their history and come together and support each other in creating the best future possible.

Fun Fact: I run an online community group which has 17,000 members and I went to my first festival at the age of 35!!!

What people appreciate about: My passion for the communities we live in. I am passionate and positive around making the community a better place for our next generation.

What is important to me: My children and family. Having a nice, chilled life with my partner and family. Enjoying making memories and I love walking to clear my mind. Having a good community for my family to grow into, I love to see residents and peers succeed in making their communities a better place.

The thing I enjoy best about being part of Well Doncaster: That I get to do the things I am passionate about and that are important to me as a job! I enjoy working with likeminded people and with a working for a team that looks after you, mind, body and soul.
