Hatfield Woodhouse Events Committee

Hatfield Woodhouse Events Group developed from the Hatfield Woodhouse Positive Action Group, with local residents expressing a concern that there were a lack of activities within the village. Residents wanted to change this, along with supporting local businesses and the community by bringing everyone together through a variety of different community events.

Community Wealth Builder was approached to support them to set up the group by explaining what was involved in becoming a constituted group and the roles and responsibilities for members of the committee.  The group were supported every step of the way from forming their constitution (in Summer 2023), recommending suitable bank accounts and signposting to small pots of funding which they could approach to deliver their goals.

In October 2023 they received their first microgrant which allowed them to hold a scarecrow workshop for the local children and families, celebrating the local farming heritage of the area. This launched the first of many events for the community with a full calendar planned for 2024.  The group have gone from strength to strength and continue to find sources of funding including being sponsored by a local funder for the creation of their seed library.
